Prayers for Olint

It’s a well known fact that the church community in Jamaica is fully invested in many of the alternative investment clubs in Jamaica. Surely with the collective efforts of the powers that be to take out these clubs it will surely take a divine intervention for some people to get their money back, better yet salvage whats left of their lives.

Below is a letter published in the Sunday Gleaner from Bishop Peter Morgan of the Kingston City Church.

The Editor, Sir:

The recent news on Olint has come with mixed responses. On one hand, it has removed some of the negative speculation about the integrity of Olint. It is apparent that they do not lack the funds to disburse gains to their club members, but are hampered by the proper mechanisms to do so.

On the other hand, it does raise questions as to whether there is a collaborative determination to frustrate the industry both locally and overseas. The large percentage of investors who are from the church community have intensified their prayers with the hope that good will come out of this crisis. It is the moral integrity which must triumph over financial self-interests. Throughout the Church, we continue to express confidence in the integrity of Mr David Smith and in his often-stated purpose to provide economic empowerment for the broad masses of the people.

  1. Encouragement for David Smith and family is Isaiah 54:17

  2. Mr. David Smith may need more than a prayer.Hopefully,he has a good lawyer.

  3. I read last week that he has put together a collection of caliber lawyers in the Turk and Casois

  4. There is a God who sits high and look low.

  5. Jehovah Rohi – “The Lord is my Shepherd “can cause David Smith to walk through the valley of the shadow of death and fear no evil.
    For bad things at times happen to good people. It’s only a season of adversity. But all things work together for our good to them that love the Lord.

  6. David Smith took gambles with people’s money, didn’t have the skills to manage it, and didn’t think anyone would notice. I kinda feel sorry for him – he really did think he had it made, didn’t he? – but not enough to see him go unpunished. This quick money thing is going to kill us! There are other legitimate ways to increase one’s wealth, but it is not going to be this overnight thing. Greed, greed, greed.

  7. I chose this means to comment because the other blogs are full with so much hate and misunderstanding. I know David only intent was to help others to do well…did he lose focus ? I will not judge but if he did ..he will learn from that….come guys….we do not need to help him down, he can do that by himself…lets pray for him and his family and the investors who need to hold on and pray.. he has the ability to continue working and get things right with the authorities.

  8. Now when I see rumors going around that he attempted to commit suicide, I really feel very hurt and this church group needs to try and have dialoge with him and his family and any other family who need it at this time, what is any one going to gain from any mishap has this……I am not in least worried about money I have invested I am concern for his state of mind and wellbeing…. we all forget he had staff working also that has lost their jobs ? they have family too…..stay strong David, Family , friends , investors and staff….and David with every problem that comes consider it a gift and move forward.

  9. Trina I couldn’t agree with you more.There are some people out there that wouldn’t mind Smith killing himself and the hate dished especially from investment for life blog is simply amazing.

  10. Bishop Morgan

    What qualification experience or special knowledge do you have that afford you the confidence to make this declaration? In my opinion, you hold an office that allows or cause a great number of people to place their confidence in your pronouncement. I think you should be aware of this and therefore guard your endorsement of any thing or anyone carefully due to the power of your speech.

    It is my expert opinion that David Smith’s business model was fraudulent or at best ill conceived from the start. It was promoted among black evangelical churchgoers in Jamaica and in our communities in the US, UK and Canada due to the support given by many religious leaders in these communities. I am greatly disappointed by this and in my small way I have tried to explain the fallacy and sometimes downright dishonest actions of people involved.

  11. BY no means Bishop Morgan I condone his doings…but my thing is all the hateful wishes and comments really not going to do any good and surely what he has coming to him will…but getting everyone going off the wrong end will not help…we would do better to encourage the investors who has lost, mine was not much and I am over it…maybe its just my way of looking at life…The Lord, Life, Love and Family means more to me….sometime we ask for too much, we end up with nothing.

  12. Trina your’s the best…and Bishop no one needs qualification to preach the godly thing and positive vibes, are you really a Bishop ?…..I am a bit disappointed….But when you see how the educated ones them run things and a mess up massa god world …mi nu surprise…..DS will get his day…so easy…bad wishes not going to help….keep the faith and pray DS…..god deh yah fi we all..good /bad/ugly and the Bishop

  13. 1 By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept
    when we remembered Zion.
    1 Blessed are all who fear the LORD,
    who walk in his ways.

    2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;
    blessings and prosperity will be yours.

    3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
    within your house;
    your sons will be like olive shoots
    around your table.

    4 Thus is the man blessed
    who fears the LORD.

    5 May the LORD bless you from Zion
    all the days of your life;
    may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem,

    6 and may you live to see your children’s children.
    Peace be upon Israel.

  14. Christains – REPENTANCE IS WHAT WE NEED AND ASK FOR GODS WILL BE DONE.

    Stop this nonsense now, do you think the God we serve was going allow us to replace him with David or anyone else, we all became WEALTH CHASERS not just people seeking to improve their lives but allowing the profits from these scheme to chart our futute. God is our only source and provider, let us not forget that for a moment or did we? How many of us sought his wisdom and approval before endorsing or entering these schemes, how many of us even tried to understand the level of risk involved or even sought to find out about David’s weaknesses, because he has many and that includes making bad financial choices. Please do our homework and be careful what we are defending. Remember we are Gods light and the light is just not shining right now. People of GOD, repent and seek God’s face now.

  15. ALl these blogs and comments praying for DS and Olint….what a joke! It must be them trying to save their heads. Yeah go ahead pray for a tief….research Wall Street history online and for that matter ponzi schemes in the Caribbean. All those senior people involved in it better know it is unlikely they can ever come back to JA with the numbers of hostile, angered JA people out there. I personally don’t have involement or care, but wake up people, they tiefed your money and that’s it. Didn’t you all read that Obcerver article that the NFA filed a complaint against Olint because they wired huge sums of money but did “little to no trading” of the funds. It is all management involved in Olint who really should be praying!
