Reggae Boyz gets slammed 2-0 by Honduras-Rene Simoes fired after game

For the second time in less than a week the Reggae Boyz took another beating this time by Honduras. Jamaica went down 2-0 to Honduras. Just Saturday they lost the match against Mexico 3-0.

Just hours after jamaica lost the game against Honduras technical director Rene Simoes was fire by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Horace Burrell.

Excerpt from the Jamaica gleaner:

“He was dismissed following Jamaica’s 2-0 defeat to Honduras in a crucial Group ‘B’  CONCACAF Semi-Round Qualifying Series.

Simoes was reportedly fired around 1a.m. this morning in his hotel room in San Pedro Sula, by the President of The Jamaica Football Federation, Captain Horace Burrell.

The president of the Jamaica Football Federation, JFF, Captain Horace Burrell says a replacement will be announced in a week.

There are also reports that the other members of the coaching staff have been fired.

Following last night’s defeat, the Reggae Boys remain on one point after three games.

Simoes returned to Jamaica on January 5 for his second stint as technical director.

It was Burrell who first brought the Brazilian to Jamaica when the Reggae Boys began their Road to France campaign.”

Based on what the news excerpt is saying a new technical director is already in the works to pick up where Simoes left off. It is a sad way to end Jamaica’s relationship with Simoes.  To be honest though the games are looking really bad. We will now wait and see what will happened next.

  1. Yes Dutty Bwoy, the games were atrocious!!A sorry parting of the way with Mr. Rene Simoes. One wonders who is in the pipeline to takeover the helm.Question.Why not develop a Jamaican style based on our athleticism and speed as opposed to promoting a Brazilian method?

  2. ESTEBAN, I think if we can learn anything about the Beijing games is that we can do it our self better.

  3. I heard about the score and just as with Mexico, I am not surprised.

  4. Stunner I was hoping for a win with Honduras. I could see with the Mexican team.
